Tsark, King of Amber (Played by Bernie, Amber)
(Eric and Vialle's son, Dara's husband, Arthur and Khrim's father)

Tsark stepped into the leadership role late, coming to be seen as the leader of the then-rebel faction only after his father's death and Lot's insanity, and attendent to his ascension was a great deal of doubt, for Eric's son had been known more for his undoubted strength at arms than any particular intellectual acumen. But Tsark was forceful and confident, if perhaps inexperienced, and thus far, he has demonstrated that one can learn the business of kingship, if one can take the throne in the first place. With two now-adult sons, Tsark's legacy seems more stable than ever, and despite the problems afflicting Amber, talk of a short rule is dying down.

Tsark's device is a hand, palm out, fingers together, gold on a field of black. It is surmounted with a golden crown, indicating that he is the King of Amber, but that is not technically part of his device.

Gawain, King of Arezia (Played by Jeff, Arezia)
(Lot and Morgause's son)

Many of the family still think of Gawain as Lot's earnest, slightly naive son who appeared in the middle of the Brothers' War and seemed quaintly knightly. To think of Gawain as provincial is to dramatically underestimate him. Lot was a tactician to rival Benedict, and Gawain appears to be following in his father's footsteps, deftly reuniting Arezia, which had been sundered by a hundred years of rebellion, and forging that Shadow into an essential part of the Golden Circle within a generation. Though Gawain's distant upbringing continues to show in his reluctance to use the Pattern, his quiet confidence on the throne of Arezia is a reminder that this is a man who ruled a kingdom while Tsark was still in house arrest in Castle Amber.

Gawain's device is a serpent, uncoiled and poised to strike, green on a field of white. It is surmounted with a golden crown, indicating that he is the King of Arezia, but that is not technically part of his device.

Victoria (Played by Mary, Atlantis)
(Llewella and Atlas' daughter, Job's wife, Jael's mother, Mercy's adopted mother)

Victoria is Llewella's daughter, but at times she seems as much Fiona's child. Coming from a quiet, contemplative religious background, Victoria was thrust into the chaos of Amber in the Brothers' War, and in its fires, she remade herself from devoted priestess into witch-queen. One of the ablest of the loyalist generals, Victoria's troops became renowned for their disturbing fervor, and their leader for her unpredictability. In peace, she has continued to demonstrate her competence and uncanny nature, forging an ever-deeper bond between Atlantis and Rebma, an axis which represents the most serious challenge to Amber's power in the Golden Circle.

Victoria's device is a trident, a scroll, and a dolphin above the dome of Atlantis' library, gold on a field of blue.

Arthur (Played by John, Amber)
(Tsark and Dara's son)

The crown prince of Amber seems a quiet, dutiful man, always willing to work in Amber's interests, but thus far overshadowed by his parents and their generation. His passion appears to be his hunting hounds and his garden, though he has never shirked from more serious work. Presently, Arthur is seen as somewhat untried... But then, there has been no major crisis to try him, yet.

Perhaps hinting at unseen talents, Arthur has, in recent years, been seen riding a huge, powerful horse which is the spitting image of Julian's Morgenstern.

Arthur's device is a crossed sword and rose, golden, above a rampant horse, white, facing dexter, on a field of black.

Khrim (Played by Dave, Amber)
(Tsark and Dara's son)

Tsark's younger son has yet to distinguish himself in the eyes of the public, preferring a lower profile than the rest of his family. To the Family, he seems very much the responsibility-avoiding troublemaker, occaisionally involving himself in the criminal activities of City Amber, but mostly sticking to an agenda of wine, women, and song. Those who knew him in Arezia have perhaps seen a slightly different side of him as he joined in the tail end of Gawain's crusades, but overall, this prince of Amber seems very happy not to excel at anything besides having fun.

Khrim's device is a black spear with a white feather, facing dexter, crossed by a purple rose facing sinister, on a field of red.

Jael (Played by Madeline, Unknown)
(Victoria and Job's daughter)

Victoria's daughter, raised to rule, remains thus far a cypher. She spends enough time away from Atlantis that some have come to believe that she has broken with her mother, yet there seems little acrimony there. Others suggest that Jael is playing some deeper game, pointing to her skill at disguise as evidence that she's setting herself up as some kind of agent poised to strike at a crucial moment. The truth of the matter is simply that many in the Family are distrustful of Victoria and her legacy, and Jael has, thus far, not gained enough distance from her mother to avoid such suspicions.

Jael's device is harp, grey on a field of blue.

Tristan (Played by Eric, Garnath)

Tall, blonde, and very young-seeming (despite having been born only a few years after the foundation of the Duchy), Tristan exudes an apparently genuine warmth that extends even to members of the Family who have been traditional excluded, such as Random and Fiona. This is largely seen as the legacy of his father — while some might mutter at Tristan's naivete, most in the Family want to believe that Martin, Leah, and Tristan really are just genuinely happy people.

Dara Sawall, Queen of Amber (NPC, Amber/Second World)
(Brand's daughter, Tsark's wife, Arthur and Khrim's mother)

A slight, dark-haired girl with a mischevious grin, Dara is a textbook example of appearances being deceiving. Arguably the most powerful woman in Amber, Dara is nearly 500 years old, and the mother of the heirs to the throne. And that's all without touching her impressive personal prowess and deep influence with the Second Worlders in general and House Sawall in particular.

Second Worlders do not use personal heraldry, but after Dara married Tsark, she started using the Sawall Coatl in Tsark's gold-on-black color scheme as a personal device.

The oldest surviving member of the family and one of the least-liked, Deirdre leaves dispensing ancient wisdom to others. Famously caustic, Deirdre's loyalty is less-remarked upon, but equally notable. Perhaps the last of the true Rebels, Deirdre still sees the Family standing the lines of that ancient grudge, and unlike many others, she's never had sympathy for those opposed to her.

But she is the preeminent Trump Artist in the family, and at least arguably possesses wisdom to match her madness. It can at least be said of her that she directs the worst of her madness to thouse outside the Family, but the more moral of her peers none the less find her repugnant.

Despite being mystically potent and politically well-connected, Llewella seems to get little regard in the family, passing almost unnoticed from the Rebel to the Loyal side between rebellions, and now overshadowed by her dramatic daughter. Caine (NPC, Amber)
(Oberon and Rilga's son, Miriam's father)

Caine in some ways seems the most pragmatic of the Elders. He didn't let tradition or propriety stop his unconventional bid for the throne at the end of the Second Rebellion, and when that failed, he apparently let it go in relatively good humor. It is apparent that his loyalties are now divided, but that seems to be more a result of his grandson being in Garnath than any ill-will towards Tsark, under whom Caine serves as an admiral of Amber's "far fleet." At the end of the day, Caine may simply enjoy too many of the small things in life (particularly getting tanked and starting fights in dive taverns) to worry too much about the big things.

Though Gerard evidently did not like Mordred, and argued repeatedly for Benedict to assume the regency, he prided himself on his loyalty to his oaths, and in both rebellions, was reluctantly loyal. No one could fault his commitment, as he lost a leg in a battle with Deirdre, and only in the last decade has he regenerated enough to walk again (and still with a pronounced limp). But now that the war is over, he works for Tsark, as Admiral of Amber's "close fleet," though he quarrels constantly with Deirdre still.

Martin, Duke of Garnath (NPC, Garnath)

Prior to the end of the Brothers' War, Martin was notable mainly as the guy who actually had a functional relationship. He was a reluctant Rebel, and served in the front lines, but much less prominently than Tsark or Deirdre did, though his martial skills may compare favorably to theirs. In all things, Martin seemed to eschew the spotlight — even when he mentioned to Tsark that he was going to break off a piece of Amber and maintain it as a semi-autonomous check on Tsark's power, he did so in an understated way. But his self-appointed role has pushed him into public notice, and Martin's handled it with aplomb. While it's well known that Grayson does the heavy lifting in terms of Garnath's economic and military matters, it's Martin who puts a face on it that the rest of the family can live with.

Jonas, Grayson's father, killed Miriam, Grayson's mother, when Grayson was just an infant. In the hundred years that followed, he was raised by Caine away from Amber, and only during the Brothers' War did he rebel against that stricture, making his own way to his ancestral home. In Amber, Grayson appeared to make his peace with his father, just in time for Tsark to kill Jonas.

Grayson is far from alone in having no surviving parents, but he's unique in the Family in having both parents die during the wars. Perhaps that drove the distrust of the rest of the family which has, thus far, left him with only one truly close friendship — Martin, another notable dissenter. For whatever reason, Grayson has thrown himself into the establishment of Garnath to the point where, fifty years later, it seems his sole passion.

Tsark later discovered that Jenna and her sisters Ilke and Elsa were Eric's granddaughters, and seperated them from the tribe at their request. Some time after that, apparently with House Hendrake's manipulation, the three Weir sisters developed a grudge against Amber. Now, there are persistant rumors of the Weir lurking in Arden, but they've never been verified.

Jenna is not known to use heraldry.

Job has matured into his role as Victoria's husband and right-hand man nicely. He's learned to weather his wife's more manic phases, and on more than one occaision stepped up to divert her from schemes that seem overly destructive. Perhaps this confidence comes from being the father of an Amberite, or perhaps it's simply Job's native intelligence and competence asserting itself. Whatever the case, more than a few people who have dealt with Victoria have been heard to mutter blessings for the day when she decided to marry.
